Although both treatments aim to improve overall skin quality, they work in different ways and are often recommended for different concerns.
A chemical peel uses carefully selected acids to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin, encouraging skin renewal. Depending on the peel selected, it may be recommended for concerns such as pigmentation, acne, congestion, uneven skin tone or dull skin.
Skin needling works differently. It creates controlled micro-channels within the skin to stimulate the body’s natural healing response and support the production of collagen and elastin. It is commonly recommended for concerns such as acne scarring, enlarged pores, fine lines and improving overall skin texture.
In some cases, chemical peels and skin needling may both form part of a personalised treatment plan. Rather than choosing one treatment for every client, Nurse Elyce will assess your skin and recommend the most appropriate approach based on your skin type, concerns and treatment goals.
-
Not always.
One of the biggest misconceptions about chemical peels is that your skin must visibly peel for the treatment to be effective. With The Skincare Company peels, it depends on the peel used as to if you will peel or not. The two stronger peels which target pigmentation will cause your skin to peel.
Depending on the peel selected and your skin condition, you may notice mild dryness, flaking or tightness over the following few days. Even without visible peeling, the treatment is still supporting natural skin renewal beneath the surface.

During treatment you may experience a mild tingling, warming or prickling sensation while the peel is active. The intensity varies depending on the peel selected and your individual skin sensitivity but generally settles quickly once the treatment is complete.
-
Immediately after treatment your skin may appear slightly pink and feel warm or tight, similar to mild sun exposure.
Over the following few days you may notice mild dryness, roughness or light flaking depending on the peel selected and your skin’s natural response. Many clients return to normal daily activities immediately after treatment.
-
Recovery following a medical-grade peel is usually quick.
Most redness settles within 24 hours, although some dryness or light flaking may continue for several days. Every person’s skin heals differently and your recovery will depend on your skin type and the peel performed.
-
The Skincare Company offers a range of different peel formulations designed to target different skin concerns.
Rather than using the same peel for every client, Nurse Elyce will assess your skin, discuss your concerns and recommend the most appropriate treatment based on your skin type, current skin condition and treatment goals.
Your treatment plan may also include medical-grade skincare to help support and maintain your skin between appointments.
-
Different chemical peels are designed to target different skin concerns.
Depending on your skin assessment, a chemical peel may be recommended as part of a treatment plan for concerns such as uneven skin tone, pigmentation, acne, congestion, dull skin or visible signs of skin ageing.
Nurse Elyce will determine whether a chemical peel is appropriate for your skin and recommend the most suitable treatment for your individual needs.
-
While some people notice improvements after a single treatment, chemical peels are often recommended as part of a treatment program.
The number of treatments required depends on your skin concerns, your skin condition and your treatment goals. As a guide it is recommended to have 3-6 treatments spaced 2 weeks apart and then move to maintenance sessions.
Some concerns, such as pigmentation or acne, often respond best to a series of treatments combined with an appropriate home skincare routine.
-
For the first few days after treatment it’s important to keep your skincare routine simple.
Use a gentle cleanser, moisturiser and SPF 50+ while your skin recovers. Avoid exfoliating acids, retinoids (Vitamin A), benzoyl peroxide and other active ingredients until your skin is no longer sensitive or as advised by your Registered Nurse.

Yes.
Daily sun protection is essential following any chemical peel.
Freshly treated skin is more sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) exposure, which can increase the risk of irritation and pigmentation. We recommend applying a broad-spectrum SPF 50+ every morning and reapplying as required throughout the day, particularly if spending time outdoors.
